This post is brought to you by my friends at FEAST Portland!
I don’t know about you, but it is still ONE BAZILLION DEGREES here in upstate New York and I can’t bring myself to turn on the stove. We’ve been living on simple salads and fresh-from-the-vine tomatoes, which, ok, NOT COMPLAINING, but “take a tomato and slice it and then stuff it in your face” isn’t exactly a news-worthy recipe, you know?
I’ve also been craaaaaaazed lately, getting ready for almost two whole months of travel (wahoo! but also OMG STRESS) and working on some exciting new projects (OMG INTRIGUE) so we’ve been all about simple + easy + (I’m not going to lie to you because INTERNET FRIENDS) approximately 1092709753 pizza deliveries.
So instead of drowning your eyeballs in food pictures as per usual, I thought we could mix it up and share some non-recipe snapshots that may not have made it to the blog yet.
Y’know, for funsies!
Also, a bit about my travel schedule! Because I know that NOT knowing exactly what I’m doing every day of forever is definitely keeping you up at night.
First, I’m headed hooooooome for a few weeks to meet with some clients, photograph some fun new contracts, hang with my friends at FEAST Portland and eat, ummmmm, everything.
The FEAST team knows how to throw a PARTY, you guys – they bring together some of the best chefs from Portland (and everywhere else!) for a jam-packed long weekend of food, food, and more food. I still dream about the sandwiches upon sandwiches upon sandwiches we had at their Sandwich Invitational last year. *droooool* ⬇️⬇️⬇️
I love coming back to PDX for FEAST every fall – it’s a great excuse to jet back to the Pacific Northwest for a few days and see my parents (HI MOM), but it’s also one of my favorite events because of their dedication to ending hunger.
They’ve raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars over the last four years to combat childhood hunger through partnerships with No Kid Hungry and Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon, and THAT, more than any party or wine tasting or delicious bite of food, is something I seriously, seriously love. (PS – If you haven’t read it already, pop over to the recap of my Master’s Thesis, which investigated the stigma associated with hunger in America!)
Follow along next weekend (that’d be September 15-18, for those of us who are date-impaired ?? points to self ??) on Instagram and Snapchat (username: lifeastrawberry) for all the food deets and FEAST snaps!
After Portland, I’ll be back home briefly for Ithaca Sustainable Seafood Week (YAY HAPPY DANCE) with The Sustainable Seafood Blog Project, then out to Boston for a few days for a real-life meeting with my online mastermind buds, then BACK to Ithaca for a week, then off to St. Louis for a wedding, then home for three days and then off to Pennsylvania for a photography retreat!
HOLY SMOKES. It’s going to be crazy. But in all the very best ways. ❤️
I’ll be the one in the back trying to balance my camera and three plates of food.
And then probably spilling said food all over said camera.
Thanks to my friends at FEAST Portland for inviting me to the events again this year! All opinions, as always, are my own.
