    FEAST Portland // Part 1

    Published: Oct 19, 2015 · Last Updated: Apr 8, 2022

Feast Portland, September 17-20 2015, Portland Oregon. this recipe

Happy Monday, internet friends! How was your weekend? Good? I hope you're having some crisp-but-not-too-cold fall weather wherever you are - here in New York we've been in the prime pumpkin-roasting, tea-drinking, sweatpants-wearing temperature comfort zone for a few weeks now. Which is crazy to me, because my brain is still in summer mode.

I can't believe it's already been a whole month since FEAST Portland. It seems like just yesterday I was eating my way through the West Coast and soaking up all the Oregon sunshine and taking thousands (literally. THOUSANDS) of pictures of all.of.the.things so I could be sure not to forget anything. (Fun fact: I have the memory of a goldfish. If a goldfish was really, really terrible at remembering things. Which they may or may not be. I have no idea. Where my scientists/goldfish experts/Google-ers at??)

ANYWAY. I finallyyyy took the time to sort through my photos from FEAST, which means I finallyyyy get to share them with you! We had SUCH an awesome time, you guys - I'd definitely recommend this festival to anyone who feels like eating themselves silly for a good cause (profits support No Kid Hungry and Partners For A Hunger Free Oregon!).

Portland, more than anywhere else I've lived, embraces the "community-not-competition" mantra and has built an incredible, collaborative, sustainability-focused, FREAKING DELICIOUS food scene. You can expect plenty more food stories from my West Coast (Best Coast!) adventures in the coming weeks - I had the opportunity to meet and photograph some truly incredible people doing amazing work for our food system - but for now, I wanted to share the first round of photos from FEAST!

These are some of my favorite shots from the first few days of the festival - The Opening Party and the Sandwich Invitational. Pictures of the Grand Tasting days and other events are comin' atcha on Wednesday, so stay tuned!
