HOLY SMOKES. I’ve been away from this blogging business for over a week now. Not really “away,” because I’ve been busting my butt on the BRAND NEW Sustainable Seafood Blog Project Website (CHECK IT OUT!) And working hard on an e-book that I’m really excited about. Hint: It’s all about branding your food blog! And I’m really excited to share it with all you other blogger types. Stay tuned for more details!
So, on the moving front: we got here a little over a week ago, but yesterday was the first time I’ve been able to cook anything in my new kitchen. And by “cook,” I mean heat up some penne with a jar of marinara sauce. No biggie. Have I mentioned I HATE moving? It’s the worst.
Also, tomorrow is my first day of school. EEK! It’s like the beginning of high school all over again. Except now I’m a grown up getting a Master’s. But still. My first day of high school doesn’t exactly hold fond memories. Neither does my first day of middle school. Or college. I’m not really the suave, “find-the-buildings-on-my-own” and “gracefully-enter-academia” type. I’m more the kind of gal who gets lost five feet from her classroom or trips over a tree root and falls on her face in front of her very first professor. True Story.
Sooooo first days aren’t exactly my fave. But it’s all good. If I bomb as a grad student I’ll just come home and make a cake. And then we’ll all feel better! Woot.
But anywho. While I’m stumbling through my first day as an Ivy League-er (aka way OUT of my league-er), I thought I should direct you to some other super awesome food bloggers who have been holding down the fort while I’m in the middle of moving and school craziness. Here are a few recipes from around the interweb that are perfect for these last few weeks of summer!
Smoked Salmon Potato Salad from Country Cleaver. It’s like all of my favorite things. Tossed together in a bowl. Of deliciousness.
Anything with spinach, pasta, and basil together in one bowl spells awesome. Example A: Spinach Pasta with Tomatoes, Pine Nuts, and Basil from Fork Knife Swoon.
Roasted Corn Caesar Salads with Parmesan Greek Yogurt Dressing from How Sweet Eats (SIGN ME UP. Because this sounds friggin’ delicious).
Vegan Cream Cheese from Connoisseurus Veg. First of all, vegan things are awesome. Second of all, this blog name is also awesome.
But we don’t have to be vegan ALL the time. Try this Green Chile Chicken Macaroni and Cheese from Boulder Locavore. You know how much I love mac and cheese, right? Plus, this one’s gluten-free!
Also, this Avocado Chili Toast from Inspired Food. Because yum.
Happy Monday, everyone! I promise to be back in the kitchen super soon….ish.
